Ruex Cafe and Bar

"I was running errands in Surrey and came across this cozy cafe & restaurant in the very busy HUB area on King George. It was a windy, rainy and cold day and the warm atmosphere beckoned me in as I walked by. Service: there was only one gal out front (Jasmine) who was working so hard to be all things to all people! She was serving to go guests as well as the seated guests which made her very busy but she rocked it with a smile. Despite that, she was friendly and attentive with just a hint of sarcasm, which I always enjoy. As I had never been to the restaurant before she invited me to sit in the dinning room side which I may not have done had she not mentioned it. I am so glad she did! She confirmed my order as being good choices and boy, were they ever! I also met the chef who was helping serve guests and he was very kind and personable, not to mention makes fantastic food. Ambiance: The restaurant side was warm and cozy with about 10 tables and comfortable seating. It was 3:00 pm so a quiet time to dine which I enjoyed. Food: I had a flat white and a crispy chicken burger with fries. The coffee was smooth with a hint of bitterness that makes a flat white so great. The burger was DELICIOUS! Nice and juicy, big piece of chicken, with cheese and tangy slaw. The fries were hot and served with a side of house made ranch dressing that I would like to purchase a large vat of to take home. It was a wonderful experience and I will definitely be back soon to try other menu items- perhaps the dine out menu as it looked fantastic."

"I went for their cafe they have and it was lovely! If you’re in a rush you will have to wait a bit for your drink as it is all handmade in front of you while they’re bussing tables for the restaurant next to them! I went for the raspberry matcha and it did not disappoint! Jappan recognized me from the first time I came in and they were out of matcha! I felt very welcomed with the friendly service! 10/10 would recommend if you want a nice relaxed coffee."

"I absolutely love Ruex Cafe—it’s honestly one of my favourites. I’ve been here before for a skincare event back in December, and ever since then I’ve been obsessed. The cafe is so pretty and aesthetic inside, such a nice vibe to just relax or catch up with friends. This time, my best friend and I came to try Gina’s drink, the chagaccino, and it was so good—definitely lived up to the hype. Overall, such a cute spot with great drinks and a beautiful atmosphere. I’ll definitely keep coming back and highly recommend it"

"Really nice cafe on the border of King George Hub! I picked up a Too Good To Go bag from here, and was able to try a sample of their baked goods - Double Baked Biscoff Croissant, Strawberry Nutella Danish, and Spinach and Feta Danish. The croissant was sweet and as advertised (loved the texture of the cornflakes as filling and a topping). Both danish were flaky, with the sweet option best consumed at room temperature and the savoury served warm (toasted). The Nutella was a bit sweet for our liking, even with a sweet tooth! The olive pieces on the spinach & feta were quite large, and it would've been nice if they were cut into smaller pieces. Very pronounced feta flavour! The sizes of the danish were perfect to accompany tea/coffee or as a meal supplement. Unfortunately, the cafe isn't open for dinner (9-5), so it's hard to visit on a weekday unless you live in the area for those that work a 9-5. I'm sure they're popular for brunch on the weekend! They have some nice sounding vegan/GF options on their menu, so I hope to visit again in the future to try their restaurant menu."
